The Cast of Sailor Beware
The Drama Society’s last production was Sailor Beware- a ”Classic Comedy” from the 1950’s. It was performed at Morganstown Village Hall from Thurs Nov 24th to 26th 2011.
The play takes place over two days, the day before and the day of Shirley’s wedding to sailor Albert Tufnell. Shirley’s mother Emma, has had no help with the preparation from her hen pecked husband, Henry. She also blames Henry for introducing Shirley to Albert, of whom she certainly does not approve. Add a batty sister-in-law, a nosy neighbour, a Scottish best man who’s afraid of women and a scheming bridesmaid, together with a dose of the measles and you have all the ingredients for a classic British farce.
