July 2024 – County Councillor Reports

Below are the monthly reports from your County Councillors for the Radyr & Morganstown Ward.

Cllr Calum Davies – July report

Reports from Cllr Davies from May-August 2024 are absent due to ill health during this period.

Cllr Helen Lloyd Jones – July Report

Received by the Web Team on 7 August 2024

Deputy Lord Mayor

The month has been very busy with Deputy Lord Mayor duties. It is a real honour to represent the people of Cardiff. I have some amazing memories, The Bristol Channel Yacht Club meeting by the pontoons in Cardiff Bay; remembering Sebrenica at Cardiff and Vale College, Dumballs Road and taking a question and answer session from two primary schools at County Hall. The primary school children’s questions were very demanding. But the one question that stood out was “What do you like about being a Deputy Mayor”. The answer was “I like meeting so many different people in our community who are all doing amazing things to make the world a better place.”

In a world where the press is constantly showing us incidents that distress us, it is reassuring to meet so many people doing so many positive things.

Radyr

Heol Isaf

The work going on at present by Radyr Comprehensive is to widen the pavement and to put in a tabled crossing and make some changes to the entry. The plans were in place before Cllr Davies and I became your councillors.

Drover’s Way

Cardiff Council is aware that there is a need to do the reinstating work on the disturbed ground by the new play area. I have been in touch recently with the Council about the work needed. We are still trying to get lights for the path.

Plasdŵr

Odour at Clos Parc Radur

We have been told that changes have been made at the source of the odour problem. There have been no complaints passed on to me for over a month.

Lon Pererinion

This is a real concern. It is totally unacceptable that the road is still not made up. I will continue to ask Redrow.

Morganstown

Radyr Rangers (RR) SECOND PRIORITY

Summer break. Expect to have more news in September

Morganstown Village Hall

The village hall does not belong to Cardiff Council or Radyr and Morganstown Community Council. It belongs to a trust and for many years, there has been a dedicated group of trustees who have ensure the village hall is available to everyone.

They would love to hear from anyone in the community who would be interested in helping the Hall, from just volunteering occasionally to being a trustee. Contact morganstownvillagehall@gmail.com

Radyr and Morganstown

Buses FIRST PRIORITY

This is the most important problem we have. Still trying to find solutions.

Facebook

I have a Facebook page Cllr Helen Lloyd Jones Do please follow me.

Replacement Local Development Plan

We won’t know whether our concerns have been allayed until later on this year. The rumours about a planning application approved for Radyr Railway Station Car Park are not true. However, the Car Park was a Candidate site so we will have to continue to monitor the situation.

Youth Work THIRD PRIORITY

Cardiff Youth Services CYS have been coming into the ward and interacting with our youngsters. The numbers meeting the informal group at Radyr Hub are growing which is pleasing. They will restart in September.

Flooding under the M4 bridge

No further news.

Next Councillor’s surgery

21 September 10:30 am to 11:30 am at the Ty Nant. Just come along if you want to talk to me.
