The 2024 Festival is coming

Radyr & Morganstown Festival 2024. Text on coloured blocks

The Festival Committee have been busy preparing for the Radyr & Morganstown Festival 2024 which will be the 37th time that this annual Festival will run in the first two weeks of May.

Whilst the full programme will come out in the April edition of the Radyr Chain and the Box Office open shortly after to get those hot tickets, we wanted to share some of the highlights of what is planned so that you can get those dates into your diaries.

A message from David Silver, Festival Chair.

This year our selected charity is Alzheimer’s Society Cymru. They were last our charity in 2018 and have a thriving local group of volunteers. Many local people or their families have
been affected by Alzheimer’s or related diseases, so please support the Festival and the charity and buy lots of events tickets and draw tickets. All proceeds from the raffle go directly to the charity and there will a book of tickets included with the Festival programme in the Radyr Chain as well as draw tickets being available at all Festival events.

As usual, the Festival extends over two weeks and three weekends. Full details of all events will be found shortly on our Festival website, and in the printed programmes in the April edition of the Chain. Regular updates can be found on our Facebook Page @RadyrAndMorganstownHub and also on X (Twitter) @RMHub.

This year’s theme is “Magical Moments”. This recognises the magical memories we hope to make across the community as we get together for our annual Festival as well as the memories and magical moments that can be preserved through the research work of Alzheimer’s Society Cymru.

There is a packed and varied programme, some of the highlights include:

  • Fete on the afternoon of Saturday 4 May in the grounds of Radyr Primary School
  • Opening concert organised by Cardiff West Rotary also on the opening Saturday 4 May featuring Castell Coch Choral Society
  • The Science with a Pint night was a successful new event last year, and this is being repeated this year on Friday 10 May, but moved to the Old Church Rooms and obviously covering different topics.
  • Wine and Cheese evening hosted by Tom Pinder of the Welsh Cheese Company based in Taffs Well on Wednesday 15 May which sold out so quickly last year, with many people unable to get tickets.
  • Jazz night is now back in the programme on Friday 17 May as are our normal Friday lunchtime concerts.
  • Dog show, Vintage Tractors & Family Games competes with our Vintage Afternoon Tea for your attention on the afternoon of Saturday 18 May.
  • The final event on the evening of Sunday 19 May will be a concert, at Christ Church, organized by the Alzheimer’s Society, where all the proceeds go to charity.

Please do put the dates in your diary, come along to as many events as possible and bring your friends and neighbours with you.

We look forward to seeing you all at the events.
