Post Office in Station Road – Consultation Hub

Post Office Closure. Cllr Helen Lloyd Jones is leading the fight to keep the PO in Morrisons in Station Road open or, if that is not possible, to maintain a viable PO in R&M.

She has now been told that Morrisons will close on 1st August. The Post Office have opened an on-line ‘Consultation Hub’, which can be accessed at Consultation Hub – Radyr CF15 8AA. Please have a look at it. However, please note that this site does not actually set up any real ‘consultation’… It is, though, suggested that as many people as possible comment via the link given on the site, comments@postoffice.co.uk. Helen asks that, if do this, you copy the comments to her (helenlloydjonesradyr@gmail.com) and our MP (alex.barroscurtis.mp@parliament.uk). All input would be helpful.

These are her personal comments:

HELP SAVE POST OFFICE

We all need to pitch in to have any chance of keeping the Post Office. I have been told it will close 1st August. Help please. The Post Office sure don’t intend to make it easy for us to keep the Post Office in Radyr.

WHAT WE NEED TO DO

Send an email to comments@postoffice.co.uk

Copy me in Helen.LloydJones@cardiff.gov.uk

and copy our MP in at alex.barroscurtis.mp@parliament.uk

Why copy the Member of Parliament in? Because the Post Office is a Westminster controlled organisation. Alex has already spoken to the Minister Blair McDougall MP who has the responsibility for the Post Office. He promised Alex that he would discuss the problems we have here with the Senior Leadership in the Post Office.

I have seen no signs of positivity from the Post Office The more emails Alex is copied in the more he can go back to Mr McDougall and argue our case.

  1. We need the Post Office open. We have a lot of elderly people who rely on the Post Office. It is in fact, the poorest, the disabled and the elderly who are going to be most affected if we lose our Post Office.
  2. We want to see Radyr up on the website www.runapostoffice.co.uk immediately and we want great marketing from the Post Office to promote our Post Office.
