Tree Lighting Ceremony

Santa in his sleigh
Pupils from Radyr Primary and Bryn Deri Primary launched the lighting of trees at the Granny Park, Morganstown, Lychgate Gardens and Windsor Gardens with carols and Christmas songs. The weather dramatically improved in order for most of the planned events to take place. The shops were open, stalls were erected and the lights were switched on. Our celebrity guest Dr Rhys Jones, ex Radyr, was introduced by Johnathon Davies of rugby fame. Rhys referred to his happy days living in Radyr and was genuinely pleased to be asked to open the lighting ceremony in front of a very large audience. Santa sitting in his sleigh was greeted by a large queue of young children, who had patiently waited for him to arrive. Many thanks to the Community Council, who funded the event, to the R&M Association and supporters for planning and setting it up, to the shopkeepers for giving their support and to the police for supervising a very successful evening.
