Supporting City Hospice in 2026
The Radyr & Morganstown Association (RMA) are proud to be supporting City Hospice as their chosen charity for 2026. This is a charity which unfortunately, many of our local families will be familiar with.
The Festival Committee have already been working with Katie Vaughan the local charity’s Senior Community Fundraiser and we will have various other events through the year to both share the work of City Hospice and raise vital funds for this charity to continue their work.
To donate to City Hospice please visit our JustGiving page or contribute at one of our events.
About City Hospice
City Hospice is Cardiff’s local hospice, providing essential medical and nursing care to people with life-limiting illnesses and support to their families.
At City Hospice our aim is to ensure every patient in our care can live their lives to the fullest for as long as possible, whilst creating lasting memories for their families. We are Cardiff’s
local hospice, the only provider of community-based specialist palliative care in the capital.
Our team cares for patients across the city, managing their symptoms and offering essential support.
Each month, we receive 100 new patient referrals and care for around 500 patients at any given time. We help patients with diagnoses such as Cancer, Dementia, Motor Neurone
Disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and other life-limiting illnesses.
What makes City Hospice different?
Here at City Hospice, we are not a bedded unit. Instead, we offer care and support to patients in their own homes. We spend time understanding the preferences of those we care
for and where they wish to stay.
We are so much more than what may come to mind when you think of the word ‘hospice’. Our centre is a bright, welcoming, and vibrant place where a community is seen in action.
Here at City Hospice, we work with patients and their families to support whatever their choice might be. Given the option, many of our patients choose to remain at home. Our
clinical team are palliative medical specialists and can offer the latest advice on medication, pain and symptom control as well as treatment options, giving our patients the best possible
information on the options for their individual circumstances and symptoms.
In addition to home-based specialist palliative care, we provide:
Occupational Therapy
Our occupational therapists assess our patients’ daily activities to improve or maintain their independence and dignity including household tasks and personal care. We can provide
patient equipment, such as grab rails, hoists, ramps and a wide range of other equipment.
Welfare Advice
Our advisors can help you and your family access the support you are entitled to. We can also help you with debt problems, obtaining Blue Badges and other local services to help
you remain independent at home.
Counselling Services
We know how important talking is and we’re proud to provide our services to help patients and their families deal with the enormity of a terminal diagnosis. We have counsellors and
therapists who offer a variety of approaches to suit everyone’s needs.
This includes:
- Patient Counselling
- Specialist Children’s Service
- Family Counselling
- Music Therapy
- Art Psychotherapy
Bereavement Services
In addition to our counselling services, we provide a bereavement service for the people living in our city who are experiencing grief and loss. This support is available as a free
service to anyone living in Cardiff, even if your loved one was not cared for by City Hospice.
We host regular Bereavement Counselling sessions both within Ty Hosbis and out in the community making it more accessible for everyone. We also offer a Children’s and Young
Person’s Counselling service, which offers support to families on how to help prepare children for the death of a loved one and can offer pre-bereavement counselling to the child.
