The future of the R&M Community

We think we are hugely fortunate in having a richness of local organisations in Radyr & Morganstown; something that has been with us almost since the area started to be developed in the nineteenth century. We are concerned that some groups are getting older, new leaders are not coming forward, and there is a whole generation who are not ‘getting involved’. There is a possibility that, in a few years, existing groups will close, there will be little to do in R&M, and we will have lost ‘Community Spirit’. We would dearly love to spark off new organisations that would appeal to younger members of or Community (and that means primarily under 60!) and particularly those who have moved onto the newer estates.

The R&M Association and the R&M Community Council hosted a joint meeting on 18th June in the Old Church Rooms in Park Road and had a general discussion on this topic. We personally invited representatives from the existing organisations and were delighted with the turn out. We are now digesting the results and will be providing feedback in a little while.

If you have a view on this problem (opportunity?), whether or not you personally have time to spare, please get in touch with your thoughts and ideas. We would still love to hear from you.
