Park Road Nursery get to grips with a prickly customer!

Park Road Nursery organised a visit from Cardiff Hedgehog Rescue. ‘Arthur’ the hedgehog was brought along to meet the children. The children enjoyed spending the morning getting to grips with the prickly customer and learnt how they can help protect an endangered species at the same time.

We learnt about the unusual characteristics of the species, including their nocturnal nature and what they can do to help hedgehogs avoid extinction. The children brought in cat food for ‘Arthur’ to say thank you for visiting. The children are naturally inquisitive and eager to learn about animals, especially one which is as unusual as the hedgehog. It has helped them to gain a much better understanding of the hedgehog and encourages them to start thinking about protecting animals and conserving nature at a very young age.

We all had a fun morning and look forward to meeting ‘Arthur’ again soon.
