The Radyr Drama Society was formed in 1982 by a group of enthusiasts living in Radyr and Morganstown. It performed its first play \u2013 \u2018All in Good Time<\/em>\u2018 by Bill Naughton \u2013 in May the following year. The group thrives entirely on the goodwill, hard work and support of its members, helpers and audiences.<\/p>\n

Next Production<\/strong><\/p>\n

The next prduction is planned to be \u2018Round and Round the Garden\u2019<\/i>by Alan Aykbourn. (The cast has 6 characters, three female and three male). Show dates are 22nd to 24th April 2026 and auditions will be held at New School Rooms, Radyr on January 15th and 22nd 2026 at 7.30 pm. Rehearsals will be on Monday and Thursday evenings starting on Monday 26th January 7.30 pm at the same venue.<\/p>\n

Last Production<\/strong><\/p>\n

The last production was \u2018A Christmas Carol<\/i>\u2019 adapted from the Charles Dickens classic- a lively\u00a0 adaptation featuring five actors playing multiple roles This was be performed at Morganstown Village Hall from November 26th<\/sup> to 28th 2025.<\/p>\n

Previous<\/strong> Production<\/strong><\/p>\n

Radyr Drama Society\u2019s previus production was ‘Gaslight’ by Patrick Hamilton. This tense psychological thriller was performed on 30 April, I May, and 2 May 2025 at Morganstown Village Hall. The play, directed by Chris Locke, centres on a relationship marred by emotional abuse and deception in the claustrophobic setting of a Victorian town house harbouring a deadly secret. As the play progresses, the criminal conspiracy which lies behind this is gradually exposed, thanks to the efforts of a dogged police detective. A perennial favourite of theatre goers, this play, which was made into a celebrated feature film starring Ingrid Bergman was guaranteed to leave the audience on the edge of their seats.

New Members<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our recent productions have been well received and continue to add to the list of successful productions staged by the society. However, as in many spheres, there is a constant turnover of members and the group is constantly on the lookout for both for new acting talent and people interested in theatre ready to play a backstage role in a variety of ways such as dress making, costume design, set design, building and decoration, stage management, publicity, lighting and sound. On performance nights we also need front of house staff. Actors of all ages and sex are welcome. Recently, we have found that students following a course of study in the performing arts find it useful to get experience \u2018on the ground\u2019 via Am-Dram<\/p>\n

New members who wish to take part or help off stage are very welcome<\/div>\n

Friends of Radyr Drama Society<\/b><\/p>\n

This is a class of membership for which the annual fee is \u00a310 per person and for this the member will be invited to attend play readings and any social events organised by the society.<\/p>\n

You will be offered ONE ticket per production at HALF PRICE. We generally do two productions per year.<\/p>\n

You may also be invited to help to advertise\/promote our productions and if possible, help with ticket sales.<\/p>\n

Also you may sometimes be invited to help with front of house tasks during performances such as selling programs or raffle tickets, showing people to their seats or helping with refreshments.<\/p>\n
